5. Test the shared folder "Business"
5-1. Check shared folder is ready and Create a subfolder and file at the client computer
Switch to PC01, open file explorer
Type "\\jameslab\namespcae01\", there are 2 available links shows up
Select "business"
5-2. Map a network drive on the Business folder
Select the letter "Y" to be the drive letter
Type "\\jameslab\namespcae01\Business" in the folder textbox. Typo story refer to Chapter 1
Create a folder named "Business Test" in the drive Y
Create a file "Business Test.txt" in the folder "Business Test" and input "Test from PC01" in the file then save it.
5-3. Check Primary and Secondary
Switch to FS01 and shut it down
Switch Oracle VM manager
Make sure FS01 is powered off
Switch to PC01, the file explorer is searching once clicking on "IT Test" folder
When the replication is hand over to FS02
Right on the folder "IT Test", select Property
Select "DFS" tab
Look at the referral list, now the server FS02 become Active
6. Review
- Once FS01 back on, FS02 is still the Active role of the folder "IT Test" because it is no need to waste tom on switching back the Active role
- DFS is a good and free feature to keep files safe.
- Even a file server is down the files are still accessible.
